Mission Vista’s first annual chess tournament took place last year. As the final game decided our first ever champion, Long Truong, attracted a significant amount of attention from our fellow Timberwolves! Long Truong, the current chess champion and publicist of the Mission Vista Chess Club, comments of his experience in the chess tournament,

“There are some really good opponents in this chess tournament that I really enjoyed. Going against them, I was scared, but sometimes it’s that intimidation that gets you, and that adrenaline that gives the energy and drives you to give it your all”.

The Mission Vista Chess Club is happy to announce that it will start it’s second annual tournament on October 15, 2018. The president and founder of the Mission Vista Chess Club coordinating the event, Joshua Timpauer, promises to put efforts in “raising the stakes” for the second chess tournament.

“It’s the reason I decided to make Mission Vista Chess Club a standard club rather than a special interest club, to liven up the community and the events even more by raising the stakes”.

He is hopeful that the next tournament will be more organized and attention- grabbing as it was in the first, and is invested in making the tournament. and the Mission Vista Chess Club, a positive perk of the Mission Vista experience.
